Living Outside the Box

There are obvious reasons to look forward to spring. No more shovels, no more layers of clothing, and no more killer icicles. The flowers bloom, the trees bud, and the birds begin to sing again. It’s also a treat to finally watch your energy bills go down as the heater isn’t used as often.

Another small pleasure of the warm up season is the freedom to finally open your windows and bring some fresh air into your home.

While solar heating can’t makes the snow stop or the flowers bloom, it can lower energy bills and infuse your home with fresh air.

Solar air heating panels install on a southerly facing wall or roof on your home. Warmth from the sun is collected within these units during the daylight hours. Small fans within the panels draw in fresh air from outside, and warm it up with the collected heat. Those fans then feed the fresh, heated air back into your home.

Breathing clean air during the winter months is not only enjoyable, but it can cut down on the build-up of mold and other allergens that accumulate in stagnant air.
